young.austrian.art ist eine junge Galerie, direkt hinter dem Museumsquartier, die es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, hier kaum bekannte neue Kunst aus Österreich und aus dem anglo-amerikanischen Raum einem breiteren Publikum näher zu bringen. Kunst soll kein Luxus sein, sondern einer Allgemeinheit zugänglich gemacht werden, ohne jemals in die Banalität abzurutschen. young.austrian.art bietet Künstlern die Möglichkeit, sich weiter entwickeln zu können, sich am Kunstmarkt zu etablieren und langfristig ihre Bekanntheit national wie international zu erhöhen, und will zugleich auch Schnittstelle für Kunstinteressierte und Sammler sein.
Der Schwerpunkt der Galerie liegt auf den Bereichen Malerei, Druckgrafik, Videoinstallation und Skulptur, die manchmal alleine, manchmal auch gemeinsam gezeigt werden. Es wird ungefähr sechs Ausstellungen pro Jahr geben und ab 2008 ist die Teilnahme an internationalen Messen geplant.
Es geht hier um Kunst, die Interesse wecken, zugänglich und auch sammelbar sein soll.

barbara preyer geboren in Wien, studierte in England Kunstgeschichte wo sie anschließend bei Phillips, später Phillips de Pury & Luxembourg in der Gemäldeabteilung als Spezialistin für europäische und englische Malerei des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts tätig war. In den letzten drei Jahren in London leitete sie eine der größten öffentlichen Sammlungen englischer Kunst des 20.Jahrhunderts.

was born and educated in Vienna. She moved to London in 1994 where she studied art history. She then went on to work for Phillips Auctioneers, later Phillips, de Pury & Luxembourg in the paintings department. During her last few years in London she was responsible for the Hospital Arts department at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital which holds a large collection of modern and contemporary British art.

Young.austrian.art is a new gallery situated directly behind the museums quarter in Vienna. Its aim is to show work by lesser known Austrian, English and American artists. Yaa believes that art should not be a luxury for a social elite. It should instead be made accessible to a discerning wider audience without ever drifting into banality.
The gallery offers young artists the possibility to establish themselves on the art market and in the long-term the opportunity to raise their profiles both nationally and internationally. At the same time it strives to be a gateway to the art world for people interested in contemporary art as well as for existing collectors. The gallery mainly focuses on painting, prints, video installation and sculpture. These fields are shown both separately and together in mixed media shows.
The gallery will hold approximately six exhibitions per year and from 2008 youngaustrianart plans to participate at international art fairs. The philosophy is to promote and market art that is available, collectable and inspirational.
